Immunohistochemistry is a technique to detect, visualize and localize
antigen at cellular level by means of a specific antigen-antibody
interaction where the antibody has been tagged with a visible label. Frozen
and paraffin tissue sections are commonly used at immunohistochemistry.
Light microscopes are necessary tools to demonstrate the finding.
Before you send your project to IHC Facility for immunostaining, you have to do a little homework and there are certain things you need to be aware of :
- IHC’s fee structure.
- Provide detail information about the antibodies.
- Provide positive and negative controls.
- Provide a 62 form signed by your account manager.
- Personal preference of the methods (enzymatic base or fluorescence) and the colors, if any.
